  37. me money every other week.

  39. I think this requires a bit of personal history:

  41. I first went to work for NewTek last summer. In June and July '95 I worked on
  42. the 4.0 manuals, and in July and August I did the VTU sponsored NewTek U on
  43. the Road training tour with Bob Anderson. (Check the July '95 VTU p. 59 to
  44. see an ad for this training with my name on it; the Aug. and Sept. issues
  45. also have this ad.)

  47. I came back to San Jose in September to continue my education at San Jose
  48. State U. In January, I went back on the payroll because I started documenting
  49. 5.0 LW. I have been working here at home ever since (and, for the most part,
  50. really liking it).

  52. So, anyone hired by NewTek since September might very well not have heard of
  53. me, especially someone in Customer Service. I don't have much need to talk to
  54. them. Thus, I suspect the person you talked to was new and 1) doesn't know
  55. who I am, and 2) didn't hear that the Alpha upgrade is free.

  57. In the future, when you talk to anyone on the phone at NewTek (or anywhere
  58. else, really), get their name so that, if some confusion like this happens,
  59. it's easier to get it straightened out. (Flash forward in time to this
  60. summer: Dave, after having found out who accused him of being a pre-release
  61. employee, stops by their desk at least once a day to coyly ask "remember
  62. me?".)

  64. As for the free upgrade to Alpha owners, I have posted my reasons for saying
  65. this under the subject "Alpha upgrade is free." Until I hear different, I'm
  66. sticking by it.
